After a relatively quiet summer, Carrie Underwood is gearing up for a very exciting close to 2014.
Not only is the superstar set to co-host the 48th annual CMA Awards on Nov. 5 with Brad Paisley — during which she’s also nominated in three categories — but she and husband Mike Fisher recently announced they are expecting their first child.
In an interview with CMT Hot 20 Countdown ’s Cody Alan, Underwood talked about her pregnancy.
“I feel really good,” she said. “I think I’ve been really lucky in my symptoms thus far.”
While there is certainly a great deal of stress in preparing for a new baby as first-time parents, it’s not enough to keep Underwood from her day job. After revealing her family will soon be expanding, she also announced her first greatest hits album, titled Greatest Hits: Decade #1.
And although the project won’t come out until Dec. 9, Underwood released a brand new single to go along with the news, “Something in the Water.” She co-wrote the song with Chris DeStefano, and Brett James.
“What did you want to say with that song?” Alan asked.
“Well, you never know what’s gonna happen when you walk into a writing session,” Underwood replied. “It’s not like I said, ’Oh, I want to write a spiritual song today.’ It just kind of happened, and I love that.”
Look for Underwood to perform the song during the CMA Awards — in between trading jokes and jabs with Paisley for the seventh consecutive year.
