Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band Set for 'The Concert for Valor'

Bruce Springsteen, Metallica Will Also Perform During Outdoor Event in Washington, D.C.

Carrie Underwood and the Zac Brown Band will join Bruce Springsteen, Metallica and other superstars for The Concert for Valor, an event taking place Nov. 11 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Eminem, Jamie Foxx, Dave Grohl, Rihanna and television personality John Oliver will also perform during the concert which is described as "a first-of-its-kind concert to honor the courage and sacrifice of America's veterans and their families." Presented by HBO and Starbucks Coffee, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg will make guest appearances during HBO's live telecast.

Although less than 1 percent of adults currently serve in the U.S. military, there are currently more than 20 million American veterans, including more than 2.5 million 9/11-era veterans who are face a wide range of challenges in making the transition back to civilian life.

The Concert for Valor was created to provide a national stage for ensuring that veterans and their families know their fellow Americans' gratitude is genuine. In addition to raising awareness, donations during the concert will be distributed among several veterans outreach and veteran service organizations.

The concert will be staged on the National Mall between the Capitol and the Washington Monument. HBO will offer its affiliates the opportunity to allow nonsubscribers to view the special.
