Brantley Gilbert Found Old Love Back Home

He Announces His Engagement to a Teacher

Last year, right around this time, I talked to Brantley Gilbert about his old loves. There was the actress/singer Jana Kramer, obviously, with whom he’d just recently broken off his engagement. It was the “disengagement,” as he called it. But beyond Kramer, there were all those other broken hearts in the country singer’s past.

They were his exes back home in Jefferson, Georgia, where he moved after he and Kramer split.

I asked Gilbert about those old girlfriends that day because clearly I had some kind of psychic notion that one day a year later, he’d propose to one.

“I’ll tell you what. The girls from my hometown are so over me. It’s been cool to catch up, but I think I’m done with my exes. To be honest, I went out with flying colors on the majority of them,” he’d said.

But now, we know that’s not the case. He seems to have found the one who got away, as the country music world is now reporting. Gilbert recently popped the question to a girlfriend from roughly 10 years ago.

His new fiancee, who is a teacher, is the one he wrote “More Than Miles” and “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” about. Gilbert has said she teaches about a mile away from where he lives.

No wedding date has been set and no engagement details have been revealed. Although, when he proposed to Kramer, he did so on the stage at the Ryman, so I’m sure he did something just as romantic this time around.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
