Montgomery Gentry's Tragic Coincidence

Breast Cancer Awareness Hits Home for Troy Gentry

Troy Gentry's wife Angie was just diagnosed with breast cancer. During breast cancer awareness month and right when her husband's duo Montgomery Gentry decided to launch Check Your Headlights, their breast cancer awareness campaign.

It's just about the most awful coincidence I can think of.

On Tuesday (Oct. 22), Gentry posted a Facebook message about his wife's diagnosis, her treatment and her prognosis. He also asked for the fans of the band to pray for her.

Earlier, when the band kicked off the new campaign with their latest single, "Headlights," Gentry talked about why the initiative is so important to him.

"As someone lucky to be both a husband and father to two incredible girls, I believe it's so important to raise awareness about breast cancer education and raise funds to help find a cure," Gentry said.

Funds raised through the sales of the single and the Check Your Headlights T-shirt will be donated to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program.

"Headlights" is the lead single from Montgomery Gentry's upcoming Blaster Records album which will be released in early 2015. That will be just about 16 years (and 18 Top 20 hits) after they released their debut single "Hillbilly Shoes" back in 1999.
