Jason Aldean: “All That Crap Was Weighing Me Down”

He Opens Up at CMA Awards Rehearsals in Nashville

Jason Aldean may always look like he’s on top of the world. But now, he actually is.

When we talked in Nashville on Tuesday (Nov. 4) after his CMA Awards rehearsal, he told me he’s happier than he’s ever been.

“It’s all good,” he said. “I’m back at a point where I can just go back to doing what I love to do. And I mean, I love what I do for a living.”

The past two years haven’t always felt that way for Aldean. He went through a pretty public divorce and is now planning a wedding with his fiancee Brittany Kerr. It’s been a tough time for him, he admitted.

“All my personal crap that’s been in the media for the past couple of years, honestly, I’m done with that, and it’s a load off me,” he said. “For a while, I didn’t really want to be out there in public because anything I did was under a microscope. That wasn’t fun. All that crap was weighing me down.”

Then he opened up about coming out on the other side of things.

“When stuff’s going on, you try to hide some of that because you feel like you always gotta go out there and act like everything’s awesome,” he said. “So to have that over with feels good. I was stressed out, but it’s finally over. I’m in a relationship that I’m happy in, and I’m enjoying what I do again.

“All that stuff’s behind us,” Aldean added. “And the future looks pretty good.”
