Larry the Cable Guy Will Host CMT Artists of the Year

VH1 Will Simulcast 90-Minute Special for the First Time

This year’s CMT Artists of the Year promises to be an evening filled with comedy and celebration as Larry the Cable Guy takes over hosting duties for the 90-minute special, airing live from Nashville on Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. ET.

Honoring Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban, the night will feature quips from the host, along with live performances and special guests as each of the five honorees are praised and acknowledged for their incredible accomplishments in country music over the past year. For the first time in the show’s five-year span, the special event will also be simulcast on VH1.

“I’m very excited to get out of the house for a few hours and let the country celebrate this fantastic body I get to look at every day,” says Larry the Cable Guy.

“Larry the Cable Guy is a world-class entertainer, and he is absolutely beloved by the CMT audience,” said CMT senior vice president of music events and talent John Hamlin. “We are thrilled to have him as our host … but we are very concerned about what he is going to wear to our classy event.”

Larry the Cable Guy is a multiplatinum recording artist, Grammy nominee, Billboard award winner and one of the top comedians in the nation. He has his own line of merchandise and continues to sell out theaters and arenas across the United States. He was a member of the wildly successful Blue Collar Comedy Tour.

He has created the Git-R-Done Foundation, named after his signature catchphrase, and has donated more than $7 million to various charities. His latest children’s movie with 20th Century Fox, Jingle All the Way 2, will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Dec. 2.
