When Carrie Underwood had an ultrasound done at her OB/GYN’s office, she already knew it was a boy. That would be her mother’s intuition, already kicking in, even though she is only in her second trimester.
But Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher didn’t want to look at the sonogram — the picture that the ultrasound creates — right there in the doctor’s office.
“It’s kind of a sterile place,” Underwood said in an ABC News Radio report. “We got to see all the pictures and everything. It was really cool to see that, but whenever she’d get near those parts, we would look away.”
Those parts. That’s a classy way to put it.
So what the mom and dad-to-be did was take the envelope with the official word on their baby’s gender and went out to dinner at a nice restaurant to reveal the news. Even though she says it wasn’t really news to them.
“(It was) just the two of us in a nicer setting, but we both knew. So, that was just confirming our suspicions. We didn’t really speak of it before, ’cause we were both just like, ’Whatever. It’s all good.’ But we knew it was a boy,” Underwood said.
Now that they know for sure, I hope Underwood listens to Brad Paisley’s 2010 “Anything Like Me,” to prepare herself for a lifetime of watching her son while he is climbing trees too tall, riding bikes too fast, driving cars too fast, skinning his knees, melting Tonka trucks and everything else that comes with a baby who’s got those parts.
