Which country bands do pro football fans love the most? StubHub ran the numbers. And I have to say, this is the best use of advanced math I’ve ever come across in my job.
The ticket reseller looked at who was buying tickets to concerts and who was buying tickets to football games. Then they cross-referenced those numbers, going all the way back to 2012.
There are some surprises. Like why do the people of Atlanta love Luke Bryan more than his fellow Georgia boys Jason Aldean and Zac Brown? And what is it about Brown that the Cleveland Browns fans dig so much? And why aren’t the Carolina Panthers all about Aldean, whose fiancee Brittany Kerr is from North Carolina and used to be a dancer for their professional basketball team?
Then there are some no-brainers. Like how George Strait is the most loved by two Texas teams. And how Garth Brooks shines in Chicago and Jacksonville, Florida — two of the cities where he played concerts during football season.
Beyoncé and Jay Z, Billy Joel, Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Rihanna, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney and One Direction also made the list. Below is the official lineup of the most popular country music acts for fans who bought NFL tickets, broken down by team:
Luke Bryan: Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers
George Strait: Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans
Jason Aldean: Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Rams
Garth Brooks: Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars
Zac Brown Band: Cleveland Browns
