“I’m very excited to get out of the house for a few hours and let the country celebrate this fantastic body I get to look at every day,” he joked when his hosting job was announced.
There’s no doubt Larry will bring his signature redneck humor to the show, although sleeves are still questionable.
“Hey, I’m Mr. Sexy, and I’m hosting CMT’s Artists of the Year,” he says in a video about the special. “I gotta find something to wear!”
Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban will all be honored for their achievements in 2014.
“Larry, this is a classy event,” scolds Lambert in the video. “Wear sleeves.”
After some more helpful advice from the other nominees, he finds a solution.
“I think I got it,” he announces, appearing in a cut-off, flannel tuxedo. “Showtime!”
All jokes aside, Larry the Cable Guy is one of the leading men in American comedy, known for his blue-collar humor and “Git-R-Done” catchphrase. He is also a Grammy nominee who has donated more than $7 million to charity.
Along with his superstar honorees, he’ll kick off the Artists of the Year festivities Tuesday (Dec. 2) at 8 p.m. ET on CMT and CMT.com.
