You have to go back six years to find it. But once you do, you will praise the Internet, video cameras and the entire concept of Throwback Thursday.
This is Luke Bryan’s very first LBTV episode. It takes place at a Wisconsin fair in the summer of 2008.
There are bumpers cars and fishing games. There are Porta Potty pranks. They’ve been drinking Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy.
And Blake Shelton is the omniscient headliner.
So after Bryan performs on a stage that’s only about a foot off the ground — and, yes, he was even shaking his badonkadonk back then, as you can see about two minutes into the video — he goes out by the tour buses and finds Shelton and some buddies chilling on lawn chairs.
He asks Shelton if he has any tips on reaching the fans.
“Take your sunglasses off, for one thing. That way somebody might for once recognize you,” he tells Bryan. “Then, you may get invited into a camp.”
Even all these years later, it’s classic Shelton. No matter how far you throw back, some things just never change.
