CMT Announces 'All-Time Top 40: Artist’s Choice' Marathon

Five Hours of the Most Influential Artists, as Chosen by Country Stars

CMT Hot 20 Countdown will wrap up its year-long celebration of country music’s greatest influences with a special five-hour marathon on Dec. 27.

The CMT All-Time Top 40: Artist’s Choice marathon will highlight some of the series’ most memorable moments.

The journey began earlier this year with a weekly countdown of artist-voted, all-genre recipients including honorees such as the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Loretta Lynn and many others.

Then, on the CMT Artists of the Year special, Billy Bob Thornton and Hot 20 Countdown revealed the top-voted artist across all genres as country legend Merle Haggard. He was awarded the honorary title of Artist of a Lifetime.

“Anything I’d say would be short of the mark, so thank you very much and God bless you,” Haggard said from the podium. After a pause, he commented that music will live forever.

More than 100 country artists participated in the vote, including legends like Haggard, George Strait and Dolly Parton along with today’s superstars like Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, among many more.

Tune in Dec. 27 at 9 a.m. ET to relive a year of outstanding musical tributes with the CMT All-Time Top 40: Artist’s Choice marathon.

And don’t miss CMT Hot 20 Countdown every Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. ET/PT.
