How Great Was Shania Twain on 'New Girl'?

Zooey Deschanel Can Line-Dance Like a Pro

At the end of FOX’s New Girl on Tuesday night (Jan. 13), our very own Shania Twain made an appearance. Of sorts.

Her 20-year-old song "Any Man of Mine" played a crucial role in helping the hit sitcom's Coach to confront his biggest fear: country music line dancing.

Twain wrote the song with her then-husband Mutt Lange, for her 1995 The Woman in Me album. And while Twain herself doesn't do any line dancing in the video -- I think she saved all those moves for her "I Ain't No Quitter" video -- she does kind of bust a move while she's working on a farm.

Anyway, earlier in the episode, Coach admitted line dancing to a country song was the one thing that he was scared of the most. "That is terrifying. Don't do that," Winston told him. But eventually, in textbook sitcom style, Coach tackles some of his issues and has an epiphany about his fear.

And then he does it. He walks into the bar, puts Twain's song on the jukebox and starts line-dancing. Jess, Nick, Schmidt and Winston join him, and they all look like they've been taking lessons at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon for months to prepare.

But for me, Jess was clearly the best one. Or maybe it was just that gingham miniskirt she was wearing.
