So the glamorous people at Glamour caught up with Keith Urban in a “roped-off corner” of a party FOX had during the Television Critics Association winter press tour. And this is what Urban talked about: whether or not his younger self would have done anything differently.
“I like where I am (now), and I don’t know whether it was because of or in spite of (my particular path),” he said, adding that if he could give some advice to all the aspiring young singers in the world — American Idol stage or elsewhere — it would be this: “Listen to that inner voice and the people around you. Knowing the balance of those two things is huge.”
Urban obviously listened to his inner voice when he made the move to Nashville to pursue his passion for country music. But is he still listening to it? Probably. That and some Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert and Sturgill Simpson, a singer-songwriter Urban calls “the best there is.”
“My wife loves Jason Aldean,” Urban added, “and I like him, too.”
