Jason Aldean Burns Bridges With Ludacris

They Reunite for Title Track of Rapper’s New EP

My ears were apparently not deceiving me while listening to Burning Bridges, the new EP from rap king Ludacris. It was the familiar twang of Jason Aldean I heard crooning on the title track.

While riding in my Jeep recently, I was … ahem … yes … trying to rap along to the track when out of nowhere I heard a male voice I thought I recognized as Aldean. However, I immediately dismissed it because I’d heard nothing about his appearance on the Ludacris track.

“Did I miss something?” I thought. “Is that Jason?! No, it can’t be.”

However, there was some added soulfulness in his voice we don’t often get to hear on his country offerings -- and I liked it.

Aldean’s performance on this song really shouldn’t come as a shock to any of us. He and Ludacris have collaborated before.

Obviously, we all remember the rapper’s appearance on the remix of Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem” back in 2011, a hit born after a stellar performance on the CMT Music Awards.

The two became good buddies with Ludacris popping up for surprise appearances over the last few years at various Aldean tour stops, including that monumental moment when Aldean played the first concert “between the hedges” at the University of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium. Yep, Ludacris was there, too, looking fresh in a UGA letterman’s jacket, getting in on all the fun.

The Burning Bridges EP also includes appearances by Cee Lo Green, John Legend, Miguel and rapper Rick Ross. It’s available for purchase on iTunes. Ludaversal, Ludacris’ first full album in five years, is scheduled for release in March.
