Trisha Yearwood Cooks Up Healthy Indulgences

Third Cookbook Is On Its Way

“This girl likes food!” country superstar Trisha Yearwood declares in the introduction to her forthcoming cookbook. We hear you, Trisha. We like it, too.

With Trisha’s Table: My Feel-Good Favorites for a Balanced Life, we can now have our cake and devour it, too.

Hitting shelves March 31, her third cookbook features brand new recipes, including gems like dairy-free angel hair pasta with avocado pesto, vegetarian smashed sweet pea burgers, chocolate chip cookie dough balls ... and the list of goodness goes on.

And Yearwood is refusing to skimp on the flavor of the traditional Southern dishes she and her family are known for. She’s simply going to bring them to us in a much fresher way for a more balanced and healthier dining experience.

“Growing up enjoying my parents’ and grandparents’ comfort food taught me early on about taste,” she writes. “It was always hard for me to go on a traditional diet because I had been led to believe I had to sacrifice flavor to shed a few pounds, so that effort never lasted very long.”

That attitude is completely understandable. After all, life is too short to sacrifice flavor -- or not eat dessert first, for that matter. However, Yearwood reveals she’s now on a much better track.

“I am not one of those people who gets so busy with my day that I suddenly think to myself, ‘Wow, I forgot to eat lunch!’” she reveals. “That never happens to me. Never. I think about food all the time, so making peace with eating is a daily battle for me.

“I won’t say I’ve completely figured it out, but I will say that right now, I win that battle more days than I lose it, and I believe that is the key.”

That and moderation.

“I still agree with the famous quote, ‘Everything in moderation, including moderation,’” she admits. “But I have adopted an 80/20 rule when it comes to my delicate relationship with food. Eighty percent of the time, I make good choices. Twenty percent of the time, I let myself splurge a little.”

And if you’ve seen the country beauty lately, you know her method is definitely working. We’ll have whatever she’s having!
