He spent some time on the road with McGraw last year and admits the superstar dispensed some invaluable wisdom.
“No joke, Tim’s an awesome dude, on and offstage,” Brantley said in a recent interview targeted for country radio. “We share some lifestyle choices. … You know, Tim’s been sober for a while. He had some great advice as far as that goes and as far as business went.”
Indeed, one look at McGraw’s career and it’s no wonder Gilbert and so many other artists aspire to that level of professionalism and success. McGraw has conquered music and film while still maintaining that delicate balance of work life and family life with his wife Faith Hill. The latter is what impresses Gilbert the most.
“I had an opportunity to fly with him to some shows, and hearing him call home and talk to Faith and his girls, man, he’s just a good father and a good husband,” he said.
Not that he needs any tips on how to be a good husband, but McGraw’s devotion to family are applicable to Gilbert’s current situation. He recently became engaged to Amber Cochran, a teacher he’s known for quite a while from his hometown in Georgia.
