Through Monday (Feb. 16), all 10 tracks on the album can be heard on GlenCampbell.CMT.com and on the CMT Artists App.
The soundtrack to Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me includes this year’s Grammy winners for best country song (Campbell’s “I’m Not Gonna Miss You”) and best country duo/group performance (The Band Perry’s “Gentle on My Mind.”)
The tracks are some of Campbell’s final recordings, and the soundtrack also features Campbell’s daughter, Ashley. Two of the selections — “A Better Place” and “Wichita Lineman” — were recorded live at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
Documenting his last tour and struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, the film is now playing in select cities. On top of its Grammy win, “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” is also nominated for an Oscar for best original song in a film and an ACM award for video of the year.
At the Grammys pre-telecast on Sunday night (Feb. 8), Campbell’s wife Kim accepted the award on his behalf.
“I’m just so proud of him tonight,” she shared from the podium. “It’s been an amazing journey. He’s been so courageous in bringing awareness to Alzheimer’s and caregiving. Sadly he can’t be here with us because he is in the late stages of Alzheimer’s, but he is healthy and cheerful. I know first and foremost he would want to thank God for blessing him in so many ways, with such a great career and especially with the gift of music.
“And music, I really believe, kept him healthy for a longer period of time and enabled him to enjoy his life and his family even in the midst of living with a debilitating brain disease – Alzheimer’s. So, I thank the Academy for honoring him with this award, and in honoring him, you are shining a light on his quest to make a difference,” she added.
The soundtrack to Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me, will be released on Feb. 17.
