At home in Nashville, his favorite hobbies are a must on the to-do list.
“I shoot a bow a lot,” Paisley told CMT Hot 20 Countdown. “I’ve got a bunch of targets. It looks almost like a miniature golf course or something. I’ve got bears and velociraptors and coyote targets all over the farm. It looks like it’s the worst zoo you’ve ever seen. … It looks like I’m a nut. But I go out on the porch in the morning with a cup of coffee and just shoot.”
Paisley’s schedule starts heating back up again near the end of April when final preparations for the tour will be in full swing.
“The hard part really is about two weeks before it launches,” he said. “You start working on the set list and rehearsing with the band and trying to get all the video content right. That’s the part that we really lose hours of sleep doing.”
And although he’ll be on the road full time this summer, Paisley still plans time with his family, and that typically involves staying as far away from the Southern heat as possible.
“We go out to California. We have a lot of friends out there,” he said. “There’s nothing like that in July. It’s kinda nice to usually go out sometime around July and August and try and see the ocean little bit, and then every now and then, we try to do something fun like hit Disneyland.”
The father of two has a lot to celebrate this summer. In addition to the new tour, Paisley marked his 19th No. 1 with “Perfect Storm” and was recently announced as the recipient of the CMA International Artist Achievement Award.
