Country queen and megamogul Reba McEntire knows how to keep us guessing with her many successful business endeavors — music, touring, a clothing line, an accessories collection, a home décor venture, Broadway, television, film, books. There’s no telling what she’ll cook up next.
But don’t expect another memoir from the icon.
Reba told ABC Radio that is one venture she would not be conquering again — and apparently dropped the word “never” when the outlet asked if she would consider writing about her adventures in television or on Broadway. The singer released her autobiography Reba: My Story back in 1994, and the experience turned out to be a rather difficult one.
“There was stuff on there that I wish I hadn’t said, and I got my facts wrong,” the “Going Out Like That” singer revealed in her interview.
“It’s so embarrassing when people come up to you and say, ‘You know, that didn’t happen that way,’” she confessed. “I said, ‘You know what, go write your own book and you can tell it the way you want.’”
She told ABC Radio she could only write what she knew back then and revealed, “Oh my gosh, it was hard.”
So are the chances of getting the inside scoop on her life since then completely lost? It certainly seems that way. But there is still a chance she’ll put the pen to the page again someday — just in a different way.
“I’d like to write a book,” she admitted in the chat, “but not a story about me.”
Until then, we’ll have new music to sustain us. Reba’s brand new album, Love Somebody, is set for release April 14.
