Eric Church, Merle Haggard, Kacey Musgraves, Sturgill Simpson, Jamey Johnson, Jason Isbell and Chris Stapleton have signed up to join Willie Nelson for his 42nd annual Fourth of July Picnic in Austin, Texas.
More than 20 artists will be performing on two stages during the July 4 event at the Circuit of the Americas’ Austin360 Amphitheater. Other talent confirmations include Asleep at the Wheel, Leon Russell, Billy Joe Shaver, Ray Wylie Hubbard, David Allan Coe and Johnny Bush.
“The first Fourth of July picnic was outside Austin at Dripping Springs, Texas,” Nelson said in making the announcement Monday (March 30). “I got the idea from Woodstock about how music could bring people from different places together. I had just moved to Austin and had come to realize what a great music center it was and could be. I thought it would be a nice idea to, this year have it back in Austin, but at a more comfortable venue for the fans and the pickers.”
This is the first time in five years that Nelson has hosted the concert in Austin.
Tickets go on sale April 10 via Ticketmaster, Live Nation and the venue. Portions of the concert will be broadcast on the Willie’s Roadhouse channel on Sirius XM satellite radio.
