Ashley Monroe's 46-Minute Opening Day Playlist

Not Just "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" Songs

On Monday (April 6), baseball players everywhere were ready to hit it out of the park. And so was Ashley Monroe.

It was officially opening day for Major League Baseball, which meant it was officially opening day for the Chicago White Sox. And since Monroe is probably the biggest White Sox fan ever, the country singer celebrated by putting together a Spotify playlist of great baseball songs.

Monroe is married to the White Sox pitcher John Danks, so they actually created the playlist together.

She chose 13 songs, which might have put some kind of unlucky curse on the White Sox, because they lost to the Kansas City Royals 10-1.

But still, there are worse ways you could spend 46 minutes than with this playlist of greats:

“Centerfield,” John Fogerty

“The Cheap Seats,” Alabama

“Talkin’ Baseball,” Terry Cashman

"Say Hey (The Willie Mays Song)," the Treniers

"The Greatest," Kenny Rogers

“Bill Lee,” Warren Zevon

“That’s the Way the Baseball Go,” Merle Haggard

“A Dying Cub Fan’s Last Request,” Steve Goodman

“Nolan Ryan (He’s a Hero to Us All),” Jerry Jeff Walker

“Glory Days,” Bruce Springsteen

“Chicago (That Toddlin’ Town),” Tony Bennett

“Shoeless Joe From Hannibal, Mo,” Damn Yankees ensemble

“On to Something Good,” Ashley Monroe
