How to Drink Florida Georgia Line's "Dirt"

No Actual Red-Road Clay Required

If you're planning to watch the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday (April 19), I don’t recommend serving up anything plain or common. This is, after all, the awards show's 50th anniversary. So do it proud. Serve drinks that will give you something to talk about and will leave you with a proper hangover come Monday.

Like "The Dirt." You'd think a drink called "The Dirt" would have all kinds of muddy things in it, like coffee-flavored liqueurs, Irish creams and crème de cacao. But this one has none of the above.

While apparently not officially sanctioned or endorsed by Florida Georgia Line, Radio.com teamed up with bartender/comedian Francesca Day at Lot 5 in Brooklyn to come up with some cocktail recipes for all of the single record of the year nominees. And this one for FGL’s "Dirt" sounds amazing.

There's no sweat, red-road clay, corn fields or ashes from whiskey bonfires in it. But after a few, we think you'd bet your life on it.

"The Dirt"

2 ounces mezcal

1 ounce orange liqueur

1 oz Fireball or other cinnamon-flavored whiskey

Splash of club soda and lime juice

Mix the mezcal, orange liqueur, cinnamon-flavored whiskey, a splash of club soda and lime juice in 16-ounce cocktail shaker. Shake well and pour into highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with a glow stick.
