Five Ways to Celebrate Reba

New Album Arrives in Advance of "CMT We Love Reba Takeover Weekend"

With a new album and a new lease on an already legendary career, let’s all bow to Queen Reba.

Reba, how do you do it? How do you just keep getting better and brighter with each passing day?

She’s done it again with the release of a brand new album that proves why she’s a cornerstone of country music.

Love Somebody, her first album in five years, officially hit stores Tuesday (April 14), and if you haven’t had a chance to pick up your copy, Reba says you’re missing “happy songs, love songs, drinking songs.”

Yes, you read that correctly: drinking songs.

“It’s got an eclectic feel to it,” she said of the album. “It’s all over the map.”

There’s “Enough,” a duet with Jennifer Nettles, that Reba says is like a “2015 version of ‘Does He Love You.’”

And then there’s her current single “Going Out Like That,” which she describes as a “party anthem and a woman’s anthem of like, ‘I’m not gonna sit back and cry in my Post Toasties. … I’m gonna get out and have a good time.”

We hear you, Reba, and we’ve been in love with that track.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. So in honor of this majestic album release day, here are a few suggestions on how you can honor one of the hardest-working women in the history of show business.

No. 1: Go buy the album and enjoy. Love Somebody is in stores and online, with a special 14-track edition available at Target.

No. 2: Ladies, put on a red dress, red lipstick (like Reba’s newest just released in her new beauty line) and hit the town! Bonus points with me if you tell someone at a bar your name is actually Fancy.

No. 3: Host a Reba karaoke party. Living rooms and karaoke bars both qualify. Grab your buddies and belt your favorite Reba song. Before your performance, announce to your audience one thing that makes Reba remarkable to you.

No. 4: Marathon watch all of her music videos. We all know she is the queen in this regard. Heck, many of her vintage videos feel like a mini-series or a movie. Be sure to include “Whoever’s In New England,” “Fancy,” “Is There Life Out There,” “Why Haven’t I Heard From You” and “The Heart Won’t Lie” for glorious vintage hair, sass, cinematic sparkle, laughs and a Vince Gill cameo, respectively.

No. 5: Send her some love on Twitter or Instagram. We all know Reba loves her fans dearly and is one of the most active superstars on social media. You know she would be thrilled to read all the messages of love and support from those who love and support her best. And that would be you, fans.

In celebration of Love Somebody, CMT is turning over its screens beginning Saturday (April 18) for “CMT We Love Reba Takeover Weekend.”

The weekend will include the CMT premiere of Reba and Friends Outnumber Hunger, a one-hour special concert on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET/PT on CMT and CMT.com. The event will feature music from Reba’s new album and performances from other BMLG artists including Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Florida Georgia Line, the Eli Young Band and Maddie & Tae. and CMT.com. An encore airing is scheduled for Sunday (April 19) at 8 a.m. ET/PT.

Serving as the face of the 2015 Outnumber Hunger campaign, Reba will help raise awareness of the 49 million individuals struggling with hunger in America. For more on the initiative, visit www.OutnumberHunger.com or www.OutnumberHunger.CMT.com.

Reba will also co-host a special edition of CMT Hot 20 Countdown, and there will be new interviews on CMT Radio and music video blocks across CMT and CMT Pure hosted by Reba. Additionally, a marathon of her hit series, Reba, will air on CMT, and special episodes of the popular sitcom will be available on CMT VOD.
