The rehearsals have been completed, and some of country music’s biggest stars are counting down the minutes until the 2015 CMT Music Awards. Hosted by Brittany Snow and Erin Andrews, the excitement will air live from — and around — Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday (June 10) at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
“We’re doing something unexpected,” FGL’s Tyler Hubbard said. “We’re doing a brand new one. We’re doing ‘Anything Goes,’ which is gonna be our next single, and I think people were expecting ‘Sippin’ on Fire.’ Everybody has pushed that one to No. 1 this week, so it’s sitting right there for us, but we’re gonna go with something new and do ‘Anything Goes’ and really bring the heat, bring the energy, and we’ll see what happens. It’s gonna be a good time.”
Jason Aldean’s latest single “Tonight Looks Good on You” is steadily moving its way up the charts, entering the Top 10 this week. To celebrate, the Georgia native will take center stage to perform the song for the first time on live television.
“It’s gonna be fun,” Aldean said during rehearsals. “One of my good friends, Dallas Davidson, was one of the songwriters on it. We’ve been friends for a long time, and this was the first song of his I’ve cut. … It’s just one of my favorite songs on the record and obviously was a song that I wanted to get to as some point off this album to be a single.”
Lady Antebellum is also slated for a show-stopping main stage collaboration featuring electronic dance music star Zedd, and Lady A’s Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood admit they’re pulling out all the stops.
“Charles said it best,” Scott said. “There aren’t two more different songs to be putting together for a mashup, but it really works. I think it’ll be a really exciting start to the show, and we’re huge fans of what he’s doing, obviously. The song, especially that we’re singing with him, is huge right now, and we’re pumped to be a part of it.”
The festivities kick off on CMT and CMT.com with the red carpet pre-show at 7 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the 2015 CMT Music Awards show at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
