Dierks Bentley’s Song About the Man He Wants to Be

Title Track From Riser Becomes His Latest Single

Dierks Bentley’s Riser emerged as one of the most critically-acclaimed country albums of 2014.

With hits like “I Hold On” and “Drunk on a Plane,” the album offers a little something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a sad love song or a fun party tune.

But the album’s title track, “Riser,” is a little different. It’s universal. It’s for all of us.

“It’s the cornerstone of this record, and the lyrics speak to the kind of guy I want to be,” Bentley said during a recent interview.

A powerful anthem for fans, it may be my favorite song on the album. Bentley has always been so beloved by his audience because even though he possesses massive appeal and undeniable star quality, deep down, he’s just a regular guy.

“It’s about the country fans that I see out in the crowd each night … the sacrifices they make and the hardships that we all have to overcome,” Bentley said. “It’s for anyone who chooses to be a riser.”

Bentley adds, “Everything we’ve done for this album has been building to the release of ‘Riser’ as a single.”

And now that moment has finally come. “Riser” hit country radio earlier this week as Bentley’s fifth single from his latest project.
