That quip is hardly the start of a joke. They actually did walk into a mermaid bar, and the evidence is a hilarious photo posted on Bentley’s Instagram page of them at the legendary Sip ’N Dip Tiki Lounge at the O’Haire Motor Inn in Great Falls, Montana.
Oh, yes. Mermaids are alive and swimming in Montana. This place is epic.
Bentley was in town to play the Montana State Fair, but before the show, he apparently had to make the requisite pilgrimage to the iconic watering hole with Rhett, who was scheduled to play the fair the the following night.
In a review of his show, the Great Falls Tribune said Bentley told the crowd that when he and the gang arrived in town, they went “straight over to the Sip ‘N Dip” and admitted they were just “hanging out and watching the [empty] pool” as they were reportedly there too early to see the “mermaids.”
Now, in the background of the pair’s “selfie” shot, I can see two people dressed as mermaids swimming in a pool with a glass wall being the only thing that separates them from the patrons.
Both Bentley and Rhett appear to be just as amused and maybe just as delightfully confused as you and I might be, judging by Bentley’s caption on the shot: “Me and Thomas Rhett at a mermaid bar. No s***. #sipanddip.” But it looks like they are having a blast.
It’s apparently the place to go. Even GQ magazine has listed the bar as a must-see destination.
As is Montana for Bentley. The Tribune also reported that Bentley gushed to the crowd about how much he loves Montana, revealing that he always schedules a day off before or after his shows to enjoy the state, saying, “It’s just the best.”
And now he can add mermaids in Montana tiki bars to the list of things he loves about it.
