Luke Bryan Decides to Kill the Lights

He Hopes to Give Fans What They Wanted -- and a Few Surprises

Luke Bryan wants us to get what we want — and maybe a few surprises. At least that was his mission when putting together his brand new album, Kill the Lights, which is out now.

The superstar reveals that when he was making this project, he kept we fans in mind, of course, saying that he wanted us to hear it and think and feel, “Oh, yeah. This is what we wanted. This is what we expect.”

Bryan says he wanted all of that familiar vibe we’ve come to know and love, but he also wanted all of that in a different way for us, too. After all, the fun of getting to make albums is that you can you can experiment, take risks and, hopefully, grow with each one you release.

You can stretch your previous limits all while remaining true to yourself. That’s what we can expect to hear with this one.

“I think when you hear, ‘Kick the Dust Up,’ right off the bat, it sets a tone that I’m right here with what I am,” Bryan said of the first single from the project.

“But then when you start getting into Kill the Lights and hear that new kind of sound of that song. And then, even with some of the other tracks like ‘Fast’ and then even ‘To the Moon and Back’ … those go down that ‘Drink a Beer’ seriousness that I was able to do a little bit on Crash My Party.”

He admits this theory worked on Crash My Party, so why not employ it with Kill the Lights?

He says he plans to do the same on his future releases

Sounds like a multiplatinum-sized plan to me. Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll go Kill the Lights and spin my brand new Luke Bryan record, listening closely for that new sound coming down.
