Toby Keith Gets Emotional in North Carolina

A 93-Year-Old Hero to Bring Him to Tears

At Toby Keith’s Friday night (Aug. 21) show in Charlotte, North Carolina, he brought a veteran onstage to thank him for his service. He does that a lot, but this guy was special, as radio station WKKT/Charlotte reports.

Retired Lt. Col. Harry Frizzell, 93, served our nation for 35 years.

Keith explained that to the crowd at his show when Frizzell joined him onstage and said he wanted him there so that fans could “see what a true American hero looks like.”

He went on to sing “American Soldier” (even changing the lyric to “American Warrior” as a tribute to Frizzell) and “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American),” then he gave the microphone to Frizzell.

After Frizzell talked about his time in Vietnam, the Korean War and World War II and says he’s proud to be representing the United States of America, that’s when Keith just kind of loses it.

In a video from the concert, you can see him bent over, trying to wipe his tears off his face. You have to really watch for it, but it’s so worth it.
