Miranda Lambert Going to Luckenbach, Texas for MuttNation Event

Her Mom Is Helping Put Rescue Dogs in Loving Arms

When Waylon Jennings sang "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)" back in the late ‘70s, it wasn't about dogs at all. But now that Miranda Lambert is building her two-day rescue dog charity event around the classic country tune, it all makes perfect sense.

Her MuttNation Foundation is hosting the eighth Cause for the Paws: Back to Basics weekend in Luckenbach on Sept. 18-19. The town is located about 75 miles west of Austin.

The two days and nights will be full of everything you'd expect from the Texas-born country star -- a barn dance, wine tasting, brunch, dinners, cocktails, live music and more.

On Sept. 19, there will be acoustic performances from Lambert and some of her best songwriting friends, like Jessi Alexander (“The Climb”, “Drink on It”, “Mine Would Be You”), Jon Randall (“Whiskey Lullaby”) and Radney Foster (“A Real Fine Place to Start,” “Raining on Sunday”).

Lambert's mom Bev, one of MuttNation's co-founders, admits these last few weeks leading up to the Luckenbach weekend will be busy, but worth it.

“A lot goes into an event like this, but nothing makes Miranda and I more happy and fulfilled than seeing a rescue dog in the arms of a loving family. That’s what MuttNation is all about," she said.

As far as tickets, you can get one-day, general admission passes for $100, and then if you can reach a little deeper in your pockets, you can go for the Hank Williams Pain package for $1,000. That one comes with a chance to watch the show up close and a meet-and-greet with Lambert.

All proceeds from this Cause for the Paws benefit the MuttNation Foundation -- which has already raised $2.1 million -- to help end animal cruelty, neglect and homelessness throughout the U.S., along with helping to support shelters and taking care of emergency puppy mill rescues.
