'Illinois' Arrives Friday

Brett Eldredge hit it big with his debut album, so the pressure was on when it came time to record his follow-up, Illinois, which will be released Friday (Sept. 11).

His first album, Bring You Back, netted three consecutive No. 1 hits -- "Don't Ya," "Beat of the Music" and "Mean to Me".

“You don’t want to have that slump,” Eldredge told CMT Hot 20 Countdown about creating new music. “You don’t wanna have that fall-on-your-face moment.”

As it turned out, there was nothing to fear.

“I found this groove and this-stroll-in-the-park kind of spot where I felt so comfortable making this album,” he said. “I’ve never been that comfortable in the studio. And I’ve never made music quite like this in the studio where I felt like this is the best music I’ve ever made.”

The new album’s lead single, “Lose My Mind,” is already firmly positioned within the Top 10 on the Billboard country charts.

“Once we released it, it was like, ‘Oh, my gosh. People are reacting to this new song,’” he said. “This is a little bit different from the first album, but people are loving it. Now it’s raced up the charts quicker than any song I’ve ever had. Now it’s like, ‘Man, if they love ‘Lose My Mind,’ they’re gonna love the whole album.’”

This fall, Eldredge and one of his buddies will hit the road for CMT on Tour: Brett Eldredge & Thomas Rhett -- Suits & Boots which kicks off Oct. 29 in New York City.

But that’s not all the collaborating the two will be doing, they’ve also recorded a new song, “You Can’t Stop Me,” for Eldredge’s album.

“It’s definitely a little bit of a retro a little bit throwback vibe,” he said. “It was totally different vibe. But it’s so much fun. And I brought Thomas Rhett on it with me, and we’re touring together. It made a perfect match. It’s definitely one of the most grooving songs on the album.”
