Brett Eldredge’s Crowning Moment

The Singer Judged His First Miss America Pageant With Style and Grace

There he was, Mr. America. Yep, Brett Eldredge nailed his gig as Miss America judge last night (Sept. 13).

And I don’t say that only because he was a part of the panel that picked Miss Georgia — brunette beauty Betty Cantrell — as the new queen (as a Georgia native and “retired” pageant competitor myself, nothing thrills me more.)

I say it because the country star also exhibited the upmost professionalism in quite the pressure cooker of a situation. Let’s face it — the responsibility of fairly “judging” 52 gorgeous women and picking one of them to represent the entire country is a pretty damn daunting task.

And though there may have been a teeny hiccup last night during Cantrell’s onstage question from Eldredge, they both recovered beautifully and persevered. Throughout the rest of the evening — during the contestants’ introductions, their talent performances, their sultry strutting in evening gowns and the swimsuit competition — he maintained the ultimate poker face, never showing too much excitement.

Okay, maybe he was a little excited about the swimsuit competition.

Well, how else is country music’s hottest bachelor supposed to feel in a moment like this? Proud and grateful, maybe? And he did feel that way, too.
