'Gainesville': Andreya Gets Real

Andreya Talks Dating, Drama and Doing Her Own Thing

Andreya has been the centerpiece in quite a bit of drama from the first half of this season of Gainesville. She's fought with friends, gone on dates, and on this week's new episode, she will celebrate her birthday with a road trip to Jacksonville! ?

We caught up with the soon-to-be birthday girl to ask her about everything that's gone down this season, and what the future holds for her!

What have you been up to since the show wrapped shooting?

I've actually had a lot going on. I moved out of the campus house with Beth and Shelby, and live by myself now in a house near my mom. I absolutely love it! I’m making the garage a dance room and a salon. I’m doing a lot of work to decorate that and get it together because I want to work out of my house doing cosmetology! I've also been trying to start a new business, where I would show around all of the new freshmen coming in to Gainesville who don't know much about the town. Not just bars, but other places Gainesville has to offer. I'm still coming up with name ideas, maybe Andreya's Guide to Gainesville? Something along those lines.

What has it been like watching the show and interacting with fans online?

It's been very interesting. It's been a roller-coaster of emotions for me. Sitting back and watching what I was going through at that time, it made me want to cry at times, I was laughing hysterically at other times. I love how the show came out. Watching it all again, and seeing where I'm at now, has made me feel like an even stronger person.

I LOVE the interaction with the fans on social media, it's absolutely great. It makes me feel like I have people on my side, and it's not just me going through these things. I feel like I've made some real, actual friends on social media. It's heartwarming. ❤

So the whole #TeamAndreya vs. #TeamKerryn thing had a lot of fans riled up, what was that like?

I've seen #TeamBeth and #TeamKenny, so I feel like everybody has a team.

Do you have any advice for girls who have been in a similar situation to the one you were in with Brian and Kerryn?

Watching it play back, I actually think I handled it surprisingly well for how fiery I normally am. I would say definitely always try to keep your cool in those situations. It's the more mature and respectful thing to do. You don't know what other people have going on in their lives. You can't judge a book by its cover, so keep an open mind as well.

On last week's episode you went on a date with Kolby, and those girls showed up. Did he ever explain what that was about, or why they were there?

It was really random. I didn't expect that at all, it was kind of shocking. I thought we would just be hanging out and getting to know each other, and they just showed up out of nowhere. I had no idea who they were, but I didn't feel comfortable asking him there at that time. I guess they were his neighbors and they had just moved in. That's kind of the way it goes in Gainesville, you move in to a new part of town and everybody gets to know each other. I guess they were just trying to feel the area out. It was a little irritating, but I got to spend more time with him later.

So what would you say your ideal date is?

Oh, that's hard. I haven't really been romanced in a long time. I want to be able to talk with someone and get to know the real them. When I go on a date with someone, I love to have fun. I'm very outgoing, and I'll try anything once as long as it's not absolutely stupid. I don't like the whole cliché dinner and a movie thing, I want a guy to show me something I haven't done before. I want to be wow-ed.

So will we be seeing some re-connection between you and Brian during the rest of the season?

That is hard to say. You're just going to have to keep watching for that! Interesting is definitely the best word to describe it. He's something else. I'll always love that kid inside and out, but you gotta watch to understand.

Was it ever hard to stay close with Shelby when you and Brian have been going through ups and downs and rough patches?

I wouldn't say it was hard for Shelby and me to stay close. Shelby and I have a friendship no matter what, and we will always be friends. There is still a little bit of weirdness when Brian and me are going through something because Shelby will feel like she's in the middle of it, and I hate that. I go to Shelby, and Brian goes to Shelby, and I think she get's a little overwhelmed, and that's wrong. I try to talk to her about other things whenever Brian and I are going through something just so she doesn't always have to feel like she's in the middle.

And lastly, what is your favorite part about being on the show Gainesville?

I'm learning a lot about myself. I love the fact that I am growing to be the person that I am, and I love that I get to share that with the world. I try to help other people learn from my mistakes. I hope younger people see what I've gone through, and it helps them to be the best they can be as they grow up. If I can somehow accomplish that, that would be my favorite part of the show.
