Eric Church, Hank Jr., Thomas Rhett and Fall Out Boy Set for CMA Awards
Eric Church, Hank Williams Jr., Thomas Rhett -- and yep -- Fall Out Boy are among the first performers announced for this year’s 49th Annual CMA Awards.
Word broke yesterday that hot young gun Rhett would take the stage and perform with Fall Out Boy during the show. What they’ll perform, however, remains to be seen or announced.
Are you surprised? I must say, I’m not.
Rhett’s new album Tangled Up is full of countrified funk, soul, pop, and rock influences, so it makes sense that the singer would pair up with a rock group to really make a statement onstage in front of his peers.
And remember, this isn’t the first time Fall Out Boy has “gone country” either. Back in 2013, the boys joined forces with The Band Perry for an unforgettable episode of CMT Crossroads.
Earlier this week, the epic show openers were announced: Eric Church and Hank Williams Jr.
That’s right, the Chief and Bocephus will take the stage before Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood’s opening monologue to perform Williams’ new single “Are You Ready for the Country?”
“Are You Ready for the Country?” My answer to that is “Hell, yes, Rockin’ Randall Hank!”
The 49th Annual CMA Awards air live on Nov. 4 on ABC.
