Charlie Daniels Invites Chris Young to His 79th Birthday

The Country Icon Will Host a Concert for the Troops

Count on Charlie Daniels to always put the needs of others before his own. Even on his 79th birthday.

The legend will celebrate his big day next week at The Palm in Nashville, but it won’t be your average birthday bash. Daniels is partnering with The Journey Home Project for the event, a non-profit that benefits veterans and their families as our heroes venture back home and back into civilian life.

“I’m Comin’ Over” singer Chris Young will perform during the evening, along with newcomer Ryan Weaver (who actually served in the military as Chief Warrant Officer 3 as a Blackhawk Helicopter Aviator, and is the national spokesperson for The Journey Home Project).

There’s going to be a fancy surf-and-turf dinner, a silent auction with rare memorabilia, a special meet-and-greet with Daniels — I mean, what more could you want?

Well, since you asked: Funds from The Journey Home Project will be donated to Middle Tennessee State University to help complete the school’s new Veterans and Military Families Center on the Murfreesboro, Tennessee, campus.

All the more reason to wish Daniels the happiest of birthdays.
