Josh Turner: Chairman of the Beard
Meet your new Chairman of the Beard, country star Josh Turner.
You might be wondering, “Wait, ‘Chairman of the Beard’ ... did I miss the joke?”
No friends, you didn’t -- it’s a very real title, and a very real and important cause.
Each year, music row, country radio and folks nationwide come together for a wonderful event deemed No Shave November, where everyone makes a pact to put down their razors to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
With a donation to the cause, clean-shaven individuals and teams can participate and agree to go “blades off” the entire month. At the end of the month, there are trophies and awards given out, a St. Jude No Shave November Champion is crowned and there’s even a party after known as the “Beard Bash.”
But you’ve gotta grow some serious fuzz if you want to win. So just who would I want on my team? These guys: my picks for the current best beards in country music.
Josh Turner
There’s a reason he’s Chairman of the Beard. I didn’t know he could grow such a beast on that baby face.
Has anyone ever seen Brown without a beard? Anyone?
Sam Hunt could have zero hair and I’d still want him on my team.
John Osborne
One half of the Brothers Osborne has an epic beard. I’m sure his brother and bandmate T.J. could catch up easily.
Great beard. Great songs. Great singer. Great player -- simply great.
Legendary Beard: Charlie Daniels
Because it’s Mr. Charlie and that beard is just as iconic as he is.
Beard No One Will Ever Beat: William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys
His beard is a national treasure.
Over the last three years, No Shave November has raised more than $500,000 for the kids of St. Jude. And even if facial hair isn’t your thing, you can still donate.
