This Is Blake Shelton 101

Hits Album Will Give Fans a Lesson in Country

Blake Shelton‘s start as a country singer is — to me, anyway – -one of those pivotal moments in history when everything kind of changed.

In a “Do you remember where you were the first time you heard ‘Austin’?” kind of way.

And I do. It was the summer of 2001. I was driving my three little kids home from a day at the town pool. I pulled my minivan over when Shelton sang, “This is no machine you’re talking to,” because I was struck by how that one lyric completely turned the song around. It was a story song (with a true beginning, middle and end), which is the only way I like my country music.

So now that Shelton is releasing Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits, even his newest fans who only know him from The Voice and his recent string of hits can get to know the music of the man who has been at this for 15 years.

“Man, I remember saying ‘If I could just get a song on the radio that would be incredible. Now to be releasing an album of No. 1 songs is still pretty damn incredible,” Shelton said in a press release. “I’m just thankful to the fans every day.”
