Country roads took Brad Paisley home alright. Back to West Virginia, where the singer took center stage at Mountaineer Field to salute the late John Denver with an iconic performance of the classic “Country Roads,” thirty-five years after Denver took the field to perform the song at the stadium’s opening in 1980.

The performance is part of a nifty new special Countdown to the CMA Awards: Country’s Greatest Crossover Hits With Robin Roberts, which will feature fifteen of the most beloved crossover songs in country music.
But here’s the cool catch – they’ll be performed by today’s biggest stars. According to Music Row Magazine, Brett Eldredge, Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, and CMA Awards co-host Carrie Underwood will all be performing their own version of these classics.
Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Lee Greenwood, Randy Houser, Sam Hunt, Rascal Flatts, Thomas Rhett, The Band Perry, Keith Urban, Chris Young, and rock icon Steven Tyler will all appear on the special as well.
