Justin Timberlake to Hit the CMA Awards Stage

He's Going Country With Chris Stapleton

Stop the presses – pop superstar Justin Timberlake is heading to Nashville to perform on the CMA stage with none other than rootsy phenom Chris Stapleton, according to Good Morning America’s Twitter feed.

Someone get me my smelling salts, because I am about to faint while typing.

Many of you might be wondering, “Where did this idea come from? Timberlake likes country music?”

Though he obviously does, I can’t actually confirm that myself. But I can tell you that he loves Chris Stapleton.

In December of last year, Timberlake (a Memphis, Tennessee, native) showed love and praise for the “Tennessee Whiskey” singer on his Twitter, posting to his fans:

The tweet received over 2,000 “favorites” and more than 1,000 retweets.

So what are these two going to sing together? We’ll have to wait and see, but I’m not even kidding when I say I would love to hear a “Sometimes I Cry” mash-up with Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River.”

The 49th annual CMA Awards air live Wednesday night (November 4) at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
