Miranda Lambert's "Bright Spot"

Her Sixth Female Vocalist Trophy Comes at a Tough Time

She kept it short, but Miranda Lambert’s acceptance speech for last night’s female vocalist of the year win at the 49th annual CMA Awards was still very, very sweet.

Proudly sporting a rhinestone-emblazoned Chris Stapleton tank top, the singer told the audience “I needed a bright spot this year,” after thanking them for the honor.

It has understandably been a rough year for Lambert personally, with her high-profile divorce from Blake Shelton temporarily steering focus away from her music and straight into her personal life. But hopefully that focus will soon shift back to what Miranda does so well: country music.

This is a historic win for Lambert - her sixth female vocalist of the year honor at the CMAs.

Getting back to her support of Stapleton, the Texas beauty also acknowledged the phenomenal performance by the night’s big winner with pop superstar Justin Timberlake in her speech saying, “Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton, just thank you so much. I’m going to go home and practice.”
