Cassadee Pope’s Letter to Martina McBride

“I Just Wanted Her to Know That I Won"

Sure, Cassadee Pope is now Martina McBride’s peer, but once upon a time, the “I Am Invincible” singer was a young girl hoping to get her idol’s attention.

And she had a brilliant plan to do just that – by writing a letter to the icon.

“I had just covered ‘A Broken Wing’ at a talent contest at school, in middle school,” Pope remembers. “I just wanted her to know that I won and I wanted to thank her for the inspiration and for being such an incredible singer.”

Although Pope didn’t get a response from McBride at the time, she eventually got something much better: face-to-face time with McBride at last year’s ACM Awards, where Cassadee says her hero “couldn’t haven’t been nicer.”

These days, the former Voice champion is getting a lot of fan mail of her own, thanks to her adorable personality, mega talent, and inspirational new single.

I think she should throw in a cover of “A Broken Wing” into her set when she hits the road next year with fellow star Chris Young. You know, for old times’ sake.
