Chris Young Gets a Big Surprise on 'Today'

Matt Lauer Gives the Country Star Some Great News

Just when Chris Young thought performing on NBC’s Today Monday (Nov. 16) would be the highlight of the day, things got even better.

Before firing into his latest release “I’m Comin’ Over” from his new album of the same title, the Tennessee native got some pretty big news from Today anchor Matt Lauer: that the single was sitting pretty as the No. 1 country song on Billboard's country airplay chart.

An understandably excited Chris threw his hands up let out a victory yell, before joking to an off-camera group that I presume to be his team, “I hate all of you, I love you, but I hate all of you - they wouldn’t tell me!”

It’s a pretty cute moment.

Young’s fifth studio album features appearances by Vince Gill and Cassadee Pope and marks the first time he’s ever sat in the producer’s chair for a record (he co-produced this venture with Corey Crowder).

In January, he’ll hit with road with Pope for his 2016 I’m Comin’ Over Tour.
