Chris Young Commands Both Country Albums and Songs Charts

Frankie Ballard's "It All Started With a Beer" Is Highest Debuting Single

Indeed, Chris Young is “comin’ over.” And, for the moment at least, he’s staying over. Young’s I’m Comin’ Over collection of songs debuts at No. 1 this week on Billboard’s county albums chart, while his single of that title spends its second week at the top of the country airplay rankings.

First week sales of I’m Comin’ Over amounted to 57,147 units, according to Nielsen Soundscan, a number sufficient to earn it the No. 5 spot on the Billboard 200 all-genres chart.

Unlike last week, when new albums were virtually exploding onto the chart like popcorn, there are only two to report this time around - Young’s and Chris Lane’s Fix EP, which bows at No. 46.

Two albums have come back - Joey + Rory’s Country Classics: A Tapestry of Our Musical Heritage (No. 49) and Kip Moore’s Wild Ones (No. 50).

Joey Martin Feek, the lead singer of the much-applauded husband-and-wife duo, is currently in hospice care after a brave battle with cancer.

There’s also a paucity of new songs this week - only four. They are Frankie Ballard’s “It All Started With a Beer” (No. 45), Old Dominion’s “Snapback” (No. 51), Ashley Campbell’s “Remembering” (No. 56) and Love and Theft’s “Whiskey On My Breath” (No. 59).

Lindsay Ell’s “By the Way” returns to action at No. 57.

The No. 2 through No. 5 albums are, in that order, Chris Stapleton’s Traveller (which was No. 1 for the past two weeks), Eric Church’s Mr. Misunderstood, Carrie Underwood’s Storyteller and Tim McGraw’s Damn Country Music.

Rounding out the Top 5 songs cluster are Underwood’s “Smoke Break,” Blake Shelton’s “Gonna,” Dan + Shay’s “Nothin’ Like You” and Jason Aldean’s “Gonna Know We Were Here.”

So there you have it - all the relevant chart numbers, comin’ and gonna.
