The wait is over. Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors premieres Thursday (Dec. 10) at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
The TV movie is based on Parton’s 1971 hit, “Coat of Many Colors,” which she says is her favorite song she’s ever written. It tells the true story of the famous quilted coat Parton’s mother made for her during a devastating time in their family’s journey.
Jennifer Nettles plays Parton’s mother Avie Lee Parton, while Ricky Schroder plays her dad, Robert Lee Parton. Darling little Alyvia Alyn Lind stars as young Dolly and recalls auditioning in front of Parton.
“She told me, ‘I loved your little eyes,” Lind said.
