ACM Awards: Blake Shelton Passing Hosting Torch

"Beer Me," Says Dierks Bentley to Luke Bryan's Invitation

According to Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton is slammed. And that’s why he has to pass the torch on hosting the ACM Awards.

Bryan is still going to host the show, but he needed a new co-host since Shelton didn’t sign on for the 2016 awards show.

Enter Dierks Bentley. When Bryan asks him — in this promotional video — Bentley just says, “Beer me.”

Which is country for, “Hell, yes.”

The two will co-host the 51st Acamemy of Country Music Awards on April 3 in Las Vegas. It will be Bryan’s fourth year as host, and Bentley’s first.

“When we found ourselves searching for a new co-host, I didn’t have to look much further than my own circle of friends, so Dierks was a natural choice,” Bryan said in a press release to follow up the videos he and Bentley shared Tuesday (Dec. 15) on social media. “We have a lot of fun together and I know the fans will be in for something special.”

“I think everyone knows Luke is the guy you call when you want to have a good time,” Bentley added. “If we have half as much fun hosting together as we do backstage, it’s going to be a great night.”
