Backroad Anthem Vocalist’s Body Recovered in Oklahoma

Craig Strickland Had Been Missing Since Dec. 27 While on Hunting Trip

The body of Backroad Anthem lead vocalist Craig Strickland was recovered Monday (Jan. 4) on a reservoir in northern Oklahoma, according to KFSM-TV in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the body was discovered in Bear Creek Cove on Kaw Lake, the TV station reports.

Strickland. 29, and his friend Chase Morland, 22, had been missing since Dec. 27 after a winter storm hit the area while the two were duck hunting on the lake.

Before embarking on the trip, Morland tweeted, “In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm.”

Morland’s body and their capsized boat were found Monday (Dec. 28).

Strickland’s wife Helen, who had been providing updates via social media, confirmed the latest news in a Twitter post.
