Jonathan Jackson, a star of ABC's Nashville, is taking on another role in real life.

It's the role of restaurateur as gets into the barbecue business just south of Nashville.

The actor, who portrays Avery Barkley on the TV series, is joining forces with fellow actor Steve Burton to open Jack and Jameson’s Smokehouse, a family-friendly food and live music spot in Franklin, Tennessee.

The restaurant’s Twitter page shows significant progress in the building’s remodel. Among the photos are a picture of a massive bar where they’ll serve 15-20 local beers and also a photo of handmade tables from owner/operator Richard Shannon and his son, Jameson.

Burton and Jackson became friends over 15 years ago in Hollywood. Both appeared on the hit soap General Hospital.

No opening date has been announced.
