Three Country Wins at People’s Choice Awards

Carrie Underwood Jokingly Blames Fans for Her Latest Trophy

Carrie Underwood couldn’t be in Los Angeles to pick up her trophy at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night (Jan. 6), but she did put together a video thanking — and kind of blaming — her fans for the award.

“Hey everybody. Carrie here. And I just won a People’s Choice Award,” she said of her favorite female country artist win, “and that’s your fault.”

After the tease, she thanks fans for the 2016 kick off.

“I just wanted to say thank you. This is a really, really wonderful way to start the year, and it’s going to be a big, awesome year. So thank you for making this happen. It’s really amazing. You guys are the best,” she said.

Blake Shelton won for favorite male country artist win, and he couldn’t be there either. But in a press release, he said he was shocked, blown away, happy and honored over his first win at that particular awards show.

“And that’s because I know this is 100 percent fan-voted and there’s no politics involved. So thank you so much to the fans. Thanks for taking the time to even vote. I know that’s probably a pain sometimes,” he said, “so I don’t take it for granted. and I love y’all very much.”

The PCA for favorite country group went to Lady Antebellum, who tweeted their appreciation.

“Thanks to all of you for voting us the @peopleschoice for Favorite Country Group. We appreciate all of your support!”
