Jennifer Nettles Brings CMT Next Women of Country Tour to New York City

Pop Star Sara Bareilles Makes a Surprise Appearance at Beacon Theatre

You can always count on Jennifer Nettles to deliver a stellar show. Judging by reports from CMT’s Next Women of Country tour stop in New York City, Wednesday night (Jan. 20) was no exception.

The singer-songwriter hit the Beacon Theatre stage in grand style and performed hits like “Baby Girl” and Grammy-winning “Stay,” along with new material from her upcoming album. New songs included “Drunk in Heels,” “Chaser” and “Sugar” which she mixed with Salt-N-Pepa’s “Whatta Man” and “Shoop.” Of course, she also performed her new single, “Unlove You."

The audience was in for a huge surprise when Nettles’ good friend, pop star Sara Bareilles, walked onstage to perform “She Used to Be Mine” from her upcoming Broadway musical Waitress. The two harmonized together throughout the moving song.

The brilliant Brandy Clark, who’s toured with Nettles before, is also on the Next Women of Country tour lineup, along with special guests Linsday Ell and Tara Thompson.

The tour continues with shows Friday in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Saturday in Boston and Sunday in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
