How to Get Dierks Bentley to Call You

It Starts with a Black Card

I don’t know if Dierks Bentley is going to call every single person who orders a black card, but he’s off to a pretty good start.

On Monday (Jan. 25), while he was still down in Mexico — literally “Somewhere on a Beach” — after his shows at Luke Bryan‘s Crash My Playa festival, he sat down to make a couple of calls to some fans who’d pre-ordered his Black album and paid for the black card.

(A lot is included in that $16.99 package, like the card, the CD, unreleased songs, one-of-a-kind merchandise and a chance to meet Bentley, but nowhere on Bentley’s website does it say that he will call you. Nowhere.)

He posted videos of two of the calls on Twitter.

“I was just calling to say thanks for getting a black card. You got a black card, right? That would’ve been kind of an awkward phone call,” he says to one fan as he laughs.

“How are you? Arizona native! What’s going on? Did you get one of the black cards? Thank you so much,” Bentley tells another fan.

It’s unclear if he called more of the black card holders, or if he just chose two at random. I think I’ll order one now and see if my phone rings.
