Merle Haggard Cancels Remaining February Tour Dates

Country Music Legend Seeking Additional Treatment in Struggle With Double Pneumonia

Country Music Hall of Fame member Merle Haggard has canceled the remainder of his February tour dates because of his health, his publicist confirmed Wednesday evening (Feb. 3) to CMT Hot 20 Countdown.

The cancellations include Wednesday’s performance with Kris Kristofferson at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, California, and five other appearances scheduled through Feb. 13 in Nevada and California.

“He is still feeling weak from his recent struggle with double pneumonia and has decided to seek further treatment for it,” publicist Tresa Redburn said in a prepared statement. “Merle is hopeful he will be back on the road later in the spring. Check back at www.merlehaggard.com for updates.”

The 78-year-old singer-songwriter was hospitalized with pneumonia in December. He showed up for a Tuesday concert in Riverside California, but was unable to perform the show. Earlier Wednesday, he had still planned to perform the concert with Kristofferson.
